What is the Purple Positive?

Well, I just made it up, so it doesn't surprise me that you don't know. I've decided to jump back into the blog world and talk about my journey to find my version of the positive in life, hence the purple part. (You may have guessed that's my favorite color.)

What do you need to know about me? Well, I'm happily married, an animal lover, a crafter, a college math instructor, and a big sister and friend. I live in a pretty remote location, which is different than my teen and early 20s days, but I've really loved it here.

I have recently begun a tough road to losing weight I've been putting on the last ten years or so. My main methods are: walking on the treadmill and outside, reducing the bad stuff I'm eating, reducing the not-so-good stuff I'm eating, increasing the good stuff I'm eating, getting lots of regular sleep.

I also have recently started the job that I've always wanted: teaching college, so I've been trying to figure out how to stop rushing to do things to get there and slow down and enjoy being here now. I'm not very good at living in the now, so that'll be a challenge, but I like challenges.

What am I like? Well, I love my and other people's animals and detest cruelty of any kind to them or people; I love math (that's what I teach) and science and learning in general; I love to dive into crafts I've never touched before and do big projects with them; I love my family and would do (and have pretty much done) anything for them; I love nature and spirituality in general; and I love to write and read.

I'm hoping this develops into a regular habit and I meet new folks through here the way I did back in my livejournal days. Feel free to follow, comment, and share your blog address, if you'd like me to reciprocate. Until then, enjoy!
